Average price of homes in Houston drops to $434,664 thanks to record inventory

Active listings reached an all-time high in July, exceeding 40,000 available homes in the Houston area. This represents a 38.2% increase from July 2024.
A Stewart Information Services subsidiary will acquire the mortgage services of Mortgage Contracting Services, a property preservation services provider.
The top-ranked communities are seeing the largest increase in sales due to affordability and new construction continuing to attract buyers, according to an Oct. 27 news release. Eight of the top 10 communities reported average home prices below Houston’s overall average of $421,655.
